Tufts cycling club offers infrastructure and support to anyone interested in racing their bike, from experienced roadies to casual riders who have never before been on a bike with drop handlebars. The team is mostly focused on the road season, although we have a few mountain bikers and cyclocross riders who race during the fall. We are trying to build up our off-road persona, so if you’re interested in racing on dirt, please get it touch! The club consists primarily of racers, but we welcome everyone to come out during training rides. (See the schedule for times of these rides or contact Vince or Judy for details.) Racers must have paid full dues and must have a Tufts cycling jersey. You can race one weekend all year, or you can come out for every race from March through May. There are no obligations to train or race once you join the club. Tufts cycling competes within the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference, and we travel to places from Philadelphia to Burlington, Vermont throughout the spring for our races. Please see the ECCC website for more information regarding the conference and race schedules. Cycling at Tufts (and at most colleges) is a club sport, not a varsity one. That means that all undergraduates AND GRADUATE students are eligible to compete and welcome to join us. Our club status gives us more freedom in training and racing, but it also means we are responsible for all our management. Tufts cycling is entirely student-run, so enthusiasm is a “must” for anyone interested in coming out! |
